On this page, you will find upcoming opportunities for public input regarding projects in Mahncke Park.
For all projects, the public will be engaged early in the process and often. Public informational meetings and other input opportunities will be posted to this page.
Current and Ongoing Projects
The Mahncke Park trail project will create a new trail on the south end of the park, between Milton Street and New Braunfels Avenue. This segment will connect to the existing trail on the north and west ends.
Option A and Option B both include accessible ramps, curbs, and transition areas that include tactile paving block at pedestrian crossings, an elevated path with rail over a low water crossing, steel trashcan, and pet waste bag station. Both options are designed to minimize site impact. Native seed mix will be applied to restore the character of the site, preserving the natural feel and supporting ecological continuity.
The trail in Option A will run close to Funston Place with few trees between the trail and road offering a clear view of the trail from the street.
The trail in Option B will deviate slightly from Funston Place with more trees between the trail and road offering additional coverage over and beside the trail.
